Croydon received a royal visit from the Earl of Wessex last week.
His Royal Highness visited the Turnaround Centre in South End before travelling to Woodlands Children’s Centre at Gilbert Scott Primary School in Selsdon.
Sir David William Brewer, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London and his Croydon deputy Colonel Ian McRobbie accompanied the Earl to the centres.
HRH met with staff at the Turnaround Centre which provides help and support to young people on a range of issues from educating them on drug misuse to keeping young people out of gangs.
He then visited the Woodlands Children’s Centre which focuses on improving opportunities for young people’s learning and development.
Councillor Tim Pollard, cabinet member for children, families and learning, said: “It was great for staff, young people and parents to meet HRH The Earl of Wessex.
“These centres provide contrasting types of support, but they form part of our fully integrated strategy for helping families and children meet their full potential.”
