A cannabis factory containing more than 300 plants was discovered by police today.

Officers from the Woodside Safer Neighbourhood Team were conducting house to house enquiries in Albert Road following concerns from residents that cannabis was being produced in the area.

Police knocked on the door of an address and when the occupant opened the door it was apparent cannabis was being grown inside the property.

Around 350 plants were found along with other drugs paraphernalia. Engineers were also called to make the electrics safe.

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and remains in police custody.
