Man arrested following police raid on Woodside cannabis factory
A cannabis factory containing more than 300 plants was discovered by police today.
Officers from the Woodside Safer Neighbourhood Team were conducting house to house enquiries in Albert Road following concerns from residents that cannabis was being produced in the area.
Police knocked on the door of an address and when the occupant opened the door it was apparent cannabis was being grown inside the property.
Around 350 plants were found along with other drugs paraphernalia. Engineers were also called to make the electrics safe.
A man, believed to be in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and remains in police custody.
Sergeant David Deuchar from the Woodside SNT said: "We've made this discovery after local residents told us of concerns that drugs were present in the area.
“Thanks to the help of the local residents we've been able to discover a cannabis factory and it will certainly help to make Woodside a safer place.
“We'd encourage any local residents to get in touch with us if they have similar concerns about drugs, or any other kind of crime or antisocial behaviour. We will listen and we will take action where appropriate."
