Commuters can expect traffic chaos in and around the South Norwood over the next two weeks.

Tennison Road bridge is closed for the next fortnight while work is carried out on the bridge.

It means drivers will have to find alternative routes and it is expected there will be heavy traffic during peak times.

The bridge is due to close for nine months from this summer.

South Norwood business owner Richard Hough said: “Tennison Road is now closed which means South Norwood is gridlocked.

“Traffic is backed up to Woodside Green at times from both Birchanger and Portland Roads.”

Why has croydon council not made any contingency plans to overcome the traffic chaos caused by spring lane bridge closure and tenison road bridge closure. I am appalled with the complacency displayed by the council who seem to have no consideration for their residents
