A pizza loving cheerleader will be taking some Crystals magic with her when she strives to become the next Miss England.

Dance student Neesha Robinson is a familiar face to Eagles fans as a member of the cheerleading squad which performs at Crystal Palace matches.

And when the season is over she is hoping to dazzle the judges at the final of the pageant in June.

The 21-year-old, from Warlingham, has qualified for the final after being crowned the country’s first Miss Afro Beauty.

To win she had to take part in a contest in Leicester including an interview round, a ballgown round and an eco round where she recreated a dress out of materials which would have normally been thrown away.

Miss Robinson said: “Everyone knows I love pizza so for the dress I got lots of Domino’s boxes and covered them with tissue and put feathers on it and used old curtains and some twigs from my mum’s garden.

“I decided to model it on Jamaica’s national flag because I’m of Jamaican descent.”

The Afro Beauty judges were impressed with her efforts and her response to the question of why she wants to win.

She said: “I said that I wanted to break barriers and open up opportunities to not just the Afro-Caribbean community but to all youths.

“For example I want to make my dance school really popular and through dance give people a sense of purpose.”

As well as finishing her degree in dance, media and cultural studies at Kingston University, Miss Robinson is also supporting the efforts of fellow cheerleaders Kimberley and Kate Fletcher on their route to the finals.

The sisters are both through to the Miss England semi-final next month.
