A man stabbed to death in South Croydon on Thursday has been named by police.

Andrew David Else, 52, from Pixton Way, died after being stabbed multiple times in Selsdon Park Road at about 10.30pm on April 24.

He died at the scene.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said Mr Else had lived in his home for about the past six years.

He said the 52-year-old could often be seen smoking outside of his property.

He lived with a woman, whose daughter lives next door to the couple, the man said.

The neighbour said: "I didn't know his name, but I saw him regularly.

He once helped me move a freezer out of my house.

"He was very pleasant, very polite. He always said good morning and good afternoon."

Describing the estate, the neighbour said: "It's as quiet as a mouse here at night, but it is a cut-through to the main road.

"There was a robbery here about two years ago and that's the first time I've ever heard of a crime here."
