A 23-year-old man appeared in court this morning charged with the murder of Andrew David Else in Selsdon.
Ephraim Norman is alleged to have stabbed to death Mr Else, 52, in Selsdon Park Road on Thursday.
Mr Else, of Woodpecker Mount, Pixton Way, Forestdale, died of multiple stab wounds after being attacked at about 10.30pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Mr Norman, of Kensington Avenue, Thornton Heath, was arrested at the scene. He was charged with murder on Saturday.
He wore a green jumper and sported a beard as he spoke only to confirm his name at the Old Bailey this morning.
He was remanded in custody until a plea and case management hearing on August 1, with a trial provisionally scheduled for October 6.
