Pictures telling the story of Croydon Airport have been installed at Roundshaw Downs.
The new addition to the area illustrates the airport’s history between 1916 and 1959.
Around the edge of the sign is a selection of paintings by aviation artist Barry Weekley.
One of them is of Hurricane’s taking off from RAF Croydon in World War Two.
Another shows the airport’s final commercial flight which took place in 1959.
History in pictures: Paintings and photos tell the story
The sign was proposed by the former chairman of the Croydon Airport Society, Tom Samsom, who passed away at the age of 92 last year.
It can be found near the end of Plough Lane in Wallington, and was unveiled by one of Mr Samson's daughter's at 11:30am on Wednesday May 7.
The sign is sponsored by Sutton Council, with input from the Croydon Airport Society.
Another pictorial sign is being considered for the Croydon side of the airport.
For the community: The sign will inform people about the area's history
