A woman has died after falling from the car park of the Centrale shopping centre earlier today.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called at about 4.30pm and found a woman in cardiac arrest.

Attempts were made to revive the woman, who is believed to be in her 50s, but she was pronounced dead by the doctor from the London Air Ambulance.

A healthcare assistant, who did not want to be named, heard what happened.

She said: “I heard a thump of somebody hitting the floor and lots of screaming and shouting.

“I thought somebody had been hit by a car but then I realised somebody had jumped.”

And a Centrale spokesman said: "We can confirm that the emergency services and air ambulance were called to a incident at Centrale this afternoon, which  took place on Drummond Road close to the centre's multi-storey car park.

"We are cooperating fully with the police and assisting them with their investigation."
