A trio who attacked a vulnerable man after luring him to a train station have been sentenced.

Reece Mummery, 18, and Roger Miller, 29, attacked the man at Norwood Junction station after he had been lured there by a 17-year-old girl from Streatham in what was described by the court as a honey trap.

Appearing at Croydon Crown Court on July 29, Mummery, of Howard Road, Croydon was sentenced to three years and nine months in a Youth offending Institute.

His uncle Miller, of John's Road, St Leonard-on-Sea, were sentenced to five years in jail.

The teenage girl, who asked the vulnerable 24-year-old to meet her at the station so he could provide her with cigarettes, was served with an 18 month Youth Rehabilitation Order with supervision and a tagged curfew for six months. She was also instructed to carry out 120 hours of community work.

The court heard she arranged to meet him on February 8 at 11.45pm, then acted as look-out, with Mummery and Miller pouncing and beating the man as they attempted to steal his mobile phone, with Miller grabbing and head-butting him during the assault.

He escaped and jumped on a 226 bus towards Crystal Palace where a member of the public noticed the 24-year-old bleeding, shaking and injured and called for help.

Croydon CID tracked down the 17-year-old girl and Mummery and arrested them Mummery's home address on February 20. They were both charged on the same day.

Miller was also arrested and charged on February 20 after the 17-year-old admitted, during her interview with officers, he had been hiding in Mummery's flat.
