Celebrity supporters will be out in force at a fun day organised to promote leukaemia awareness.

Heading the list will be former footballer John Barnes, actors Angela Winter and Judith Jacobs from EastEnders, actors Robbie Gee, Chucky Venn and Michael Obiora and comedians Eddie Kadi and Wayne Rollins.

They have all put their name down to take part either in a five-a-side tournament, or a 5km run at the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust fun day on Sunday.

Two of the stars of Channel 4’s reality show Gogglebox – Sandy and Queen B – will also be there to take part in the run.

Sandy, who began her involvement with ACLT three months ago, said: “We’re so happy to be able to do something like this to help such a good cause, to highlight an issue that our community really needs to know more about.

“I’ve had friends in the past whose lives have been affected by leukaemia, and it’s such a terrible thing – there aren’t enough donors, and that needs to change.”

The day, at Lloyd Park, will also include family sporting events, a bouncy castle and food stalls ACLT will run a registration drive during the day to recruit new volunteers to the bone marrow, blood and organ donation registers.

Activities run from 11am and stays open until 6pm.

Entry to the 5k race costs at £10 and entrants should arrive at 10am.
