Indian dancers brought alive the aisles and spices from around the globe hung in the air when a food store held a world food festival.

England cricket hero Mark Butcher, who is from Croydon, and celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala made guest appearances at Brakes Professional Food Market in Beddington last week.

Croydon Guardian:

Five local restaurants held cooking demonstrations, dishing up specialities including Bangladeshi, Chinese and Sri Lankan cuisine.

The shop, in Beddington Farm Road, also held a raffle in aid of Croydon social enterprise Mum's the Chef, which helps unemployed ethnic minority women.
