"Unattended cooking" is believed to be the cause of a flat fire that broke out in Croydon yesterday afternoon.

The fire, which happened in Purley Way, damaged part of a four roomed flat on the fourth floor on a five storey block.
Four engines attended the blaze with 21 firefighters from Croydon, Wallington and Purley stations.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "You should never leave cooking unattended – if you have to leave the room or the house, turn the heat off."
LFB was called to the scene at 4.35pm and the fire was under control by 5.18pm.
