Search for missing Tia Sharp enters fifth day

Missing Tia Sharp from Mitcham was last seen in New Addington
About 60 officers have begun a search of woodland a short distance from where Tia Sharp was last seen.
The officers are using scythes to cut the undergrowth in Birch Wood as they hunt for clues to the 12-year-old's disappearance.
Officers recently put up a cordon in the woods, in order to aid their search and are expected to keep searching until it gets dark.

Pollards Hill Councillor Martin Whelton said: "A group of us led by the local MP Siobhain McDonagh are going out at 4pm from the New Horizons Centre in Pollards Hill (on South Lodge Avenue, Mitcham, CR4 1LT) to talk to local residents about Tia. Tia's uncle David Sharp had this to say on Facebook: "Can everyone please stop posting negative and nasty comments you are all entitled to have your own opinions we know! But please for Tia's sake please, please, please do not air them on her page which is only to help find Tia.
"Once again thank you to all those kind hearted people that are out there searching day and night posting fliers and putting them in every place they can to find her!"

Other police forces in London for the Olympics are helping in the search for Tia.
The Met said police officers forces from around the country are being used through 'mutual aid'.
Officers from Warrington were bussed in this afternoon.

Crystal Palace Football have put posters up around their stadium as they look to help find missing Tia Sharp.
A CPFC spokesman said: "The club put an appeal out for Tia on Saturday afternoon once the news broke that she had gone missing and this has been followed up by posters showing her photo and description being displayed in the club shop and box office. The club, just like all the local community, are desperate for some positive news on Tia and hoping our little bit of help can make that come sooner rather than later."

A number of so called psychics and tarot readers are disturbingly putting up information they claim is about Tia on Facebook and Twitter.
Relatives of Tia have told people to discredit rumours they are reading on social media sites which have no substance.

A shopkeeper in Mitcham is offering £500 reward for anyone who knows where Tia Sharp is.
Javid Iqval, owner of UK Household Goods, a second hand furniture shop, on Mitcham Road, said he wanted to help find Tia.
Mr Iqval, 60, who has two daughters said: “I am a family man and everyone has got a daughter. She is only 12 years old and I just want to help them.
“I know £500 isn’t a lot of money but that is what I can afford and I will offer that."

Christine Sharp, 47, Tia’s maternal grandmother, who was at work during the day last Friday, said: “Tia promised that she would be home by six. I’ve still got her dinner in the oven. It’s
pizza and chips and I can’t bear to take it out.”
She said she could not understand why her granddaughter had not been seen after she left her council house.
Christine, said: “There were workmen here on the estate yet nobody saw her leave.”
Stuart Hazell, 37, Christine's partner was at home when Tia said she was going to the Whitgift Centre to buy flip flops.

DCI Scola said: "We know Tia was at her grandmother's house and slept late on the morning of 3 August. She then left to get the bus. She told her grandmother's partner she was going out - he was the last person to see her that we are aware of at this time."

The police released a CCTV image of Tia tyaken the day before she went missing. She was dressed similarly to the day she was last seen.
DCI Nick Scola leading the inquiry said: "It shows her wearing a yellow vest top with an image of an animal on the front - possibly of a cat or dog, her tight faded jeans, and Ugg boots. We believe she was wearing the top and jeans when she went missing, but not the Ugg boots - we know she was wearing black Nike trainers with a pink swoosh when she left her grandmother's address. The image is from the Co-op in Featherbed Lane, Addington, at around 4.15pm on Thursday, 2 August.

David Sharp, 28, maternal uncle of Tia spoke at the press conference.
Two close family friends, Mark Havers and Steven Sabine accompanied him and they all wore appeal tee shirts.
David gave a message to Tia: "Please come home. You are not in trouble - please call us or call the police. I would like to thank the police and the public - everyone is doing everything they can. Please don't stop."

The search for Tia Sharp, a 12-year-old girl from Mitcham, has entered it's fifth day. Despite 55 unsubstantiated sightings and extensive police searches no sign of the schoolgirl has been found since she left her grandmother's house in The Lindens at midday on Friday August 3.

The Sun newspaper is now offering a £25,000 reward for information on missing 12-year-old Tia Sharp which leads to her safe return.
