The Croydon Champions campaign is all about people and organisations who work tirelessly to make our borough a better place.
Whether they are businesses who go the extra mile or individuals who pull out all the stops for a special cause.
More often than not these people go unrecognised. They work quietly and courageously without seeking public affirmation of their efforts.
But that does not mean they should not be rewarded.
The Croydon Champions campaign has already unearthed a wealth of special individuals.
The free Croydon Guardian puts them at the heart of the campaign - they are their awards, not ours.
It is sometimes easy to forget that we are all part of a community and that we all have a shared interest, regardless of our age, wealth or race.
That collective aim to make Croydon a great place for everyone should never be forgotten.
As long as the Croydon Champions campaign exists, it never will.
