Croydon town centre will become a giant art gallery next week when artwork is projected on the side of buildings as part of the colourful Skyline illuminations.
Work by Croydon College students and pupils from schools all over the borough will be brightening up the town centre from February 24 to March 1.
The event, titled Brand Croydon, will see the artwork exhibited on the side of St Anne's House in Wellesley Road, the college side of Fairfield Halls and another site at the west end of Park Street.
In addition to the projections on buildings, the work will be exhibited on a series of smaller screens in the College's Parfitt Gallery throughout the event period. The exhibition will also include a 3D model produced by Edenham School depicting some of their ideas for improvements in Croydon's townscape.
Councillor Adrian Dennis, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and environment, said: "This is another bright idea for Skyline. The art show promises to be an impressive spectacle that will bring a fresh dimension to the nightly light show. Since it begun three years ago Skyline has helped transform Croydon's appearance through the innovative combination of art and technology."
The event is supported by Skyline, Croydon Council, Croydon Education Business Partnership and Croydon Marketing and Development.
