Champions revealed at gala reception

1:25pm Wednesday 2nd November 2005

There are only a few days left until the culmination of this year's Croydon Champions campaign when we reward the people who make Croydon such a great place to live and work.

The finalists in the 10 categories will be honoured at a gala reception at Braithwaite Hall in Croydon Clocktower next Monday. The evening will be attended by the Mayor of Croydon Councillor Maggie Mansell, representatives from Croydon's business community and voluntary organisations.

And Hamish McFee, a west highland terrier, nominated for a Champions special award last year in recognition of his work as a Pets as Therapy dog at Mayday Hospital, will also be at the reception.

There will be live music and entertainment on the night from students from the Brit School, Croydon College and Royal Russell School's chamber orchestra as well as a performance by X Factor contestants The Brothers.

A raffle, held on the night, will raise funds for this year's Champions charity Croydon Carers Contact which provides help and support for carers across the borough.

See next week's Croydon Guardian for a round up of the winners and pictures from the night.
