The end is in sight for an energetic lecturer who has nearly reached his target of running 30 marathons in 35 days.
Jason Arday, from Clapham, has been pounding the streets of London over the past month as he aims to complete the mammoth challenge, inspired by comedian Eddie Izzard, who completed a similar effort for Sports Relief last summer.
And despite still having six marathons left to complete, the 24-year-old Richmond College sports lecturer has already smashed his fundraising target having raised more than £5,000 for Shelter and the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Hampton.
Kim Darton, Shooting Star’s director of fundraising and marketing, joined Mr Arday for his 24th marathon, cycling the route from Piccadilly Circus to Teddington and back again in the early hours of yesterday morning.
He said: “I stayed with Jason throughout and we shared life stories through the night. I am stunned by this splendid man, and found my moments with him tremendously inspiring.”
En-route Mr Arday was also joined by two college friends who met him at Teddington to run the last half of the marathon, as well as another friend who joined the group for the last five miles.
The fundraising fitness fanatic is due to finish his final marathon at 1pm at Piccadilly Circus next Sunday.
