Pupils from across Sutton were rewarded for their hard work on Tuesday with another record year for GCSE results.
Many students received a string of scores at the highest grade - including sixteen-year-old friends Louise Simmons and Sarah Adams who were among five students at Nonsuch High School for Girls gaining 13 A* grades.
The friends topped an impressive bunch at the school, where over 84 percent of marks awarded were either A or A* graded.
A council spokeswoman said early indications show that grades in Sutton are set to remain exceptionally high with 71 percent of young people gaining five or more A* - C grades, including English and maths, while more than 90 percent received five or more A - Cs.
These figures show a significant improvement on the 2009 results in Sutton and are expected to be well above the national average which was 51 percent for five A* - Cs including English and maths last year.
At Sutton High School a quarter of girls at the school gained straight A and A* grades in all of their subjects.
One student at the school, Catherine Fellows, who joined in September as a year seven pupil achieved an A* grade in her German GCSE at the age of just 12.
The John Fisher School in Sutton also scored impressively with over 80% of grades at A*-C.
At St. Philomena's Catholic High School for girls 17 pupils achieved no fewer than 8 A* grades in their examination results.
Pupils at Wallington High School for Girls also enjoyed a host of the highest grades, with almost 45 percent of marks awarded the coveted A* classification.
Meanwhile Glenthorne High School students broke school records with 81 percent of all grades between A* and C.
Head teacher Steve Hume said: We are thrilled with their results.”
Carshalton High School for Girls achieved its best ever results, with the percentage of students getting 5 A* to C grades rising by 16 percent to 81%.
Students at Greenshaw High School were also celebrating with 82% of students achieving five good grades at C or better - the best results ever for the school.
At Overton Grange 70 percent of pupils gained at least 5 grades at C or above.
Cllr. Kirsty Jerome, executive member for education and school at Sutton Council said: “Our students deserve huge congratulations for their hard work towards their exams which really has paid off.
