The mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Councillor Sheila Carlson, treated 30 eager primary school children to tea in her council chambers last week.
Reception children from St Christopher School in Epsom were shown around the Town Hall by the Mayor dressed in her official regalia and gave children the chance to ask her questions from the council chambers.
Annie Thackray, head teacher at St Christopher’s School, said: "The mayor was impressed with the children’s knowledge of the symbols on the Epsom and Ewell coat of arms.
"She was kind enough to answer a range of questions and take some suggestions about what the local taxes should be spent on.
"It was a wonderful afternoon and a great learning experience for us all."
