Football course kicks off

Are you looking for a job and love football?

Then you might be interested in a course in football coaching. Orbit South Housing Association, in partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust are offering male and female 16-25 year olds the opportunity to gain an FA Level 1 qualification in football coaching, as well as real coaching experience.

This is the third course they have run and it is aimed at helping young people living in Bexley, particularly those who are Orbit Housing residents, improve their chances of finding meaningful employment or training opportunities.

The course offers an FA Level 1 certificate in coaching football as well as one-to-one support finding a job. Those that successfully complete the programme will be encouraged to join the Trust as a volunteer football coach, given kit and training and the chance to progress to the Level 2 coaching course and paid employment. A previous participant said: “The course was brilliant and gave me a chance to sit down and work on my CV and covering letter and to apply for apprenticeships and jobs that I really want.

“Having the one to one sessions helped me to build on my communication skills and develop my confidence. The people who ran the course had real passion in what they were doing and made us feel like we mattered.” The course starts on Monday, February 27 and is on from 10am - 4.30pm, two days a week for four weeks at The Howbury Centre, Slade Green Road, Erith DA8 2HX.
