NSPCC to benefit from Snow White

Croydon's popular pantomime company the Pantoloons is linking up with The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and will be donating the proceeds from their annual show to support the charity's work for children.

The company, now in its 17th year, has raised almost £30,000 for charity and will stage the popular children's classic Snow White at Purley United Reformed Church Hall.

Pantoloons' president Keith Hughes said: "The welfare of children has always been at the heart of Pantoloons. We began as a group of parents helping to stage a pantomime for our kids at Kenley School and the company has grown from there.

"This will be our 14th production and we have mainly supported children's charities over the years principally the Royal Marsden Hospital children's cdepartment. This year we have chosen to back the NSPCC because we know what a vital job they do for children here in Croydon.

"Our actors and musicians are all volunteers and our shows have always been popular with the audiences. This year will be another spectacular extravaganza with all the thrills and spills of the traditional pantomime and a few surprises thrown in."

Alex McDowell, NSPCC community appeals manager for Croydon, said: "With around 85 per cent of the NSPCC's funding coming from members of the public the support we receive from community based fundraising activities is both very important and greatly appreciated. We would like to record our thanks to the Pantoloons and we hope they and all their guests enjoy this year's production."

Snow White runs from January 25 to 28, with nightly performances at 8pm and a Saturday matinee at 3pm.
