Epsom Downs Racecourse has confirmed that timeless band, UB40, will be performing live after racing on July 30 as the grand finale of the 2009 Epsom Live! fixtures.

UB40 join the already confirmed Status Quo and Scouting for Girls at the events which will take place after the last race every Thursday evening throughout July.

The legendary UB40 are returning to Epsom with fond memories after performing to a packed crowd at the Racecourse in 2006.

Formed in 1978, the Birmingham band found world-wide success providing the soundtrack to many peoples lives and loves with massive number one hits including, Red Red Wine, Can't Help Falling In Love and I Got You Babe.

Thirty years on, 54 UK hit singles later and with over 70 million albums sold, the band is still going strong.

“UB40 were extremely popular in 2006 when we last staged the Epsom Live evenings. The atmosphere was fantastic with young and old enjoying UB40 perform their classic hits as the sun set across The Downs after watching some thrilling racing around the unique Derby course,” says Nick Blofeld, Managing Director of Epsom Downs Racecourse.

“And the ageless and chart topping Status Quo have played to packed crowds at Epsom three times before and we thought it would be fantastic to celebrate the return of Epsom Live! by bringing an old favourite back to Epsom to play to their fans,” adds Blofeld.

Capping an outstanding 18 months, Scouting For Girls have a distinct catchy brand of indie pop with hit songs; She’s So Lovely’ and ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’.

They enjoyed a fantastic night at the prestigious Brit Awards recently.

It was two years to the day that the band signed their record deal and the band were nominated for ‘British Breakthrough Act’, ‘British Live Act’ and ‘British Single’ for Heartbeat.

Tickets start from £21 and are on sale now at epsomdowns.co.uk or by calling 0844 848 0197.
