Summer may be over but there is still a reason to smile because the circus is coming to town.

The all-human Netherlands National Circus is heading to Clapham Common for its first visit to south London.

The massive circus, which will be situated at Clapham Common Fairground, at the junction of The Avenue and Windmill Drive, promises top-class family entertainment during the schools' October half-term week.

Featured acts at the animal-free circus include flying trapeze star Junior Neves, who has featured in the national press because he happens to suffer from vertigo.

Neves, who is presently practising to emulate older brother Aston by becoming one of few in the world performing a quadruple somersault, has to will himself at every performance to take his first step up the rope ladder that leads to the troupe's aerial rig.

Other acts include unique unicyclists from Spain, Los Jacksons, Russian bar acrobats, the Four Vasiliev, expert juggler from Mexico, Juan Pablo Martinez, and loveable clown from Holland, Pom-Pom.

A circus spokesman said: "It's marvellous to be on tour here with such a special show. This circus is from Holland, but the idea of circus performance was a British invention, and the circus is close to people's hearts everywhere.

"We're helping families fight back against the cost of living - seat prices are competitive, and travel costs are low because we come to you."

A box office will be on site daily from 10am to 8pm or it can be contacted on 0844 415 5228.
