A multi-award winning wildlife cameraman who worked on BBC hits such as Frozen Planet and Blue Planet will be sharing his experiences working in some of the most spectacular and remote places on earth during a one-off speaking tour.

Doug Allan, one of the world’s leading cameramen, will be regaling audiences with his amazing tales including the time he was dragged under water by a hungry walrus and poked by a polar bear in his sleep.

Graduating in 1973 from the University of Stirling with a degree in marine biology, Doug has been described as “the toughest in the business” by wildlife veteran David Attenborough who said: “Doug Allan seems to be immune to most of the limitations that govern other human beings. Furthermore, he is totally without fear in a way that comes not from recklessness but from deep knowledge and experience”.

Starting life as a research diver in 1976 at Signy Island, Antarctica, Doug has 35 years of experience in the Antarctic and Arctic and has won four Emmy and four BAFTA awards for cinematography on a series of BBC wildlife series’ including Blue Planet, Life and Planet Earth.

Armed with mesmerising footage, incredible photographs and plenty of ‘Scottish charm’ audiences should expect to be transported to some of the most remote and inhospitable regions on earth. Ahead of his tour, Doug Allan said: “What’s great about talking face to face is that it’s my chance to bring people right in behind the scenes. It’s like live TV only better.” He will also be promoting his first book, Freeze Frame, a behind the scenes look at how he captured some of his most spectacular photographs of animals in their natural habitat.

Doug Allan’s Life Through a Lens show will be appearing at Epsom Playhouse on Tuesday, February 21 at 7pm, with tickets from £15.

His book Freeze Frame will also be available to purchase. For more information visit dougallan.com, epsomplayhouse.co.uk or call 01372 742555 Doug Allan - Life through a Lens; Epsom Playhouse; Ashley Road; Tuesday, February 21; Tickets from £15; 7pm; 01372 742555; epsomplayhouse.co.uk
