A creative writing company has launched a short story writing competition for budding writers, to coincide with the Wandsworth Arts Festival.

The competition theme is games, linking to the Olympic year.

Entrants are encouraged to be as imaginative as they like, as long as they stick to the 200 word limit.

Short-listed finalists will be invited to perform their stories live in a short story slam at the Balham Bowls Club on May 25.

Comic poet Ardella Jones will compère the show, which is being judged by BBC script editor Jonathan Wolfman.

Wolfman will select his top three stories, with the audience selecting the ultimate winner.

Winners will be win a Chalk the Sun writing course and a dinner for two at Balham Bowls Club.

Runners-up get will get two bottles of fizz and Chalk the Sun vouchers.

It is free to enter, with an age restriction of 18 and over.
