Budding green-fingers who want to find out more about growing their own food can attend a workshop and a talk being given by an expert.

The Growing Successfully in the City event coincides with national gardening week, and gives people the chance to learn about sustainable living.

All ages and abilities are invited to explore ideas of urban growing, including gardening, low-carbon living, growing food and wellbeing.

Visitors can make their own planters from recycled material and will be encouraged to play with food on a giant scale.

There will also be games about personal wellbeing and happiness, to help people really get to grips with the great outdoors.

Events have been organised by Transition Town Tooting, which is part of a network of groups who seek out imaginative ways to tackle climate change and over-reliance on fossil fuels.

Charles Whitehead, co-chair, will also be giving a talk on the theme of community, low carbon living and how to grow food the day, taking place the day after the workshop.
