Well, Christmas is nearly upon us an no doubt we will all be gathered around the flat screen after stuffing ourselves with too much food and bucks fizz ready for a marathon classic Christmas Movie fest!

Home Alone (1990)

No matter how many times we’ve seen them already, it’s the law at Christmas time that we watch It’s A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Disney’s A Christmas Carol, Home Alone and a favourite in my house The Muppet Christmas Carol. There will also be some first screenings of newish movies but unfortunately this novelty has worn off over the years since the introduction of hundreds of digital channels and DVDs and Blu rays which are released a lot sooner than they used to be. So come Christmas Day the big movie is sometimes an anti-climax.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

However, having said that, there’s always bound to be one of the big movies that you might have missed for some reason. So here’s a few I can recommend that will be screened this year. Avengers Assemble, Puss in Boots, The Muppets, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, a nice little animated movie that seemed to go unnoticed called The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists and fantasy adventure movie John Carter which was slated at the time and labelled one of the worst films ever made. I watched it on Netflix and I thought it was actually alright. Apparently it suffered from very poor marketing and badly constructed trailers. Obviously, by that I don’t mean poorly built camper vans where the actors relax!

John Carter (2012)

When the festivities are over you’ll probably want to know what’s on at the cinema that’s worth watching. Well you’re in luck. Foker On Film presents a New Year’s round up of new movies out in the cinemas in January 2015. Here’s something to wet your appetite. Ten movies previewed by friend of the FDA Alex Zane. Two of these movies Birdman (15) starring Michael Keaton and The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (15) both out January 1st are to be reviewed on Foker On Film next week.

In the meantime enjoy these clips.
