If you’re at a loose end this weekend and fancy a trip to the cinema, why not check the listings to see if your local is showing the original Jurassic Park. Yes, following the success of ‘Back To The Future’ cinema re-release last year, Universal Pictures are showing the definitive Dinosaur movie in selected cinemas for a limited time only as from today.

The movie has been digitally remixed for improved quality for sight and sound but the special effects have not been altered in any way. Everything will be as it was back in 1993. I think the re-issue of Star Wars took a bit of a bashing when Lucas added new CGI effects. So I’m glad that Jurassic Park has not been tampered with because for me this film is still the bench mark of how to create thrilling CGI imagery.

The movie release on September 23 comes just ahead of the Blu-Ray ‘Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy’ box set available on October 24.

Other movies rumoured for a new cinema release are Top Gun 3D early 2012 and Ghostbusters Tbc. I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime enjoy Jurassic Park again in all its Glory!
