The number 37 bus route from Clapham to Brixton has inspired a new beer festival taking place over the bank holiday weekend.

A trio of beer sellers in south London have come together to create the Route 37 Beer Festival from Friday, May 27, to Monday, May 30.

London Beer Lab microbrewer in Brixton, The King and Co freehouse in Clapham and We Brought Beer shop in Battersea have each selected a dozen Summer picks which they will serve alongside a special festival IPA called Route 37 (taking the total number of beers on offer to 37).

Drinkers can vote for their favourite beer and get cards stamped when they purchase one of the special selections with six stamps getting them a bottle of Route 37.

Among the special events are a beer brunch at The King and Co where diners will get a third of a pint of each of the venue’s 12 selections as well as breakfast classics with a Scandinavian twist and tastings at We Brought Beer.

We Brought Beer’s James Hickson said: “We’re so excited about this festival. It’s fun, it’s varied and you can pick and choose what to enjoy throughout the weekend.

"Not only are you supporting a local community initiative, you’ll get to drink some of the best craft beers from around the world too – so it’s a win-win situation.”
