Historically they have been at each other’s throats, but an alliance between British and French culture is proving a hit in the kitchen.

Balham-based couple Ben and Sophie Le Brozec’s blog Franglaise Cooking has taken off since launching at the start of the year and has now been shortlisted for a Brilliance in Blogging award.

The blog features culinary specialities created by Mr Brozec, whose upbringing in the French town of Avignon has inspired his recipes.

Mrs Le Brozec then has been using her technical expertise to get the blog off the ground The blog focuses on simple recipes that are easy to put together for parents on the go, or anybody wanting to cook delicious food quickly, cheaply and using fresh and healthy ingredients.

Mrs Le Brozec said: "We have loads of tutorials for cooking amazing food for beginners, we even allow people to watch videos upon signing up, in which we demonstrate how to make vinaigrette from scratch as well as other basic cooking techniques."

She admitted the success has been a surprise.

She said: "As the blog was so new, we didn’t ask anybody to nominate us, but then a friend text me with the news and I couldn’t believe it, I thought we were too young for this."
