Balham has a new destination for coffee, cocktails and brunch.

Brother Marcus in Chestnut Grove has been opened by old school friends Alex Large, Arthur Campbell and Tasos Gaitanos with a focus on seasonal, organic and high quality produce.

The café has a retractable glass façade, seating 35 inside and another 28 outside. Its décor includes natural wood, potted foliage and purchasable artwork from London-based artists.

Daytimes feature a selection of coffees, sourced from east London-based Caravan, plus smoothies, shakes and brunch cocktails alongside food such as the Brother Special which comprises poached eggs, asparagus, smoked salmon, avocado and spinach.

In the evenings, Brother Marcus serves a range of ‘big boy sandwiches’ with names like Bob’s Your Uncle and will host supper clubs as well as serving a range of cocktails, wines and craft beers.
