Food lovers ate their way round the world on Saturday at the World Food Court on Streatham Green.

The event was the highlight of the third Streatham Food Festival, which included a number of events and talks carefully crafted to tickle foodies tastebuds.

For seven days the town's restaurants, eateries and bars joined forces to celebrate the diverse range of food available throughout the year.

At the World Food Court visitors took their pick from a bewildering choice dishes ranging from India, Spain, Thailand and Japan to Africa and the Caribbean.

Ann-Marie Baptiste, one of the organisers, said: “The whole week has been fantastic for the community.

“We even managed to create a kind of village green atmosphere in an inner city part of London “We had hundreds of people visiting including Chuka Umunna, who was really getting involved in the demonstrations.

“The idea for the festival came from Angelina Purcell, who is the town centre manager for Streatham.

“She is a brilliant woman who just wants the best for Streatham businesses.”
