The elegant Sesame in Kingston Road oozes sophistication and splendour as you take a seat at one of its stylishly set tables, with burgundy decor completing the setting.

The waiters are attentive as you soak up the relaxed ambience of the cosy restaurant.

Healthy sized poppadoms are accompanied by an array of sauces including the much-loved mango chutney to prepare pallet for starters or mains - which were all difficult to choose from due to the wide selection on the menu.

The onion bhaji and vegetable somosas were delicately flavoured and had a lovely crunch. These starters were presented beautifully next to a bed of fresh salad and complimentary sauces.

The flavours in the main dishes such as the Punjabi tawa paneer, lal mas and palak paneer are also well balanced and can be ordered with a chilli kick if desired.

The generous portions of the mains are welcomed and many of the dishes are speckled with flakes of fresh coriander for added flavour and aesthetics.

The Punjabi tawa paneer is a winner as large chunks of soft Indian cheese sink into the thick and creamy orange sauce and it is clear why the tasty lal mas is on the specials menu. The tender lamb balanced with garlic and slices of freshly cooked peppers and onions is a well rounded dish.

For green lovers the palak paneer is also a treat with the intense taste of spinach mingled with Indian spices creates a tantalizing eating experience.

The mains can be eaten with an array of fluffy white Indian breads including buttery nan or garlic nan, a number of different rice dishes are also available.

The hearty dishes can be washed down with fine wines, house wines or even a beer as this curry house has a wide selection of alcoholic beverages.

Service at this Cobra Curry Award winning restaurant is impeccable and a visit there won’t break the bank with the majority of main dishes costing between £6 and £8.
