The aptly named Tota, meaning people of Tooting, opened at the beginning of 2013 joining a host of new cafes along Upper Tooting Road close to Tooting Broadway station.

The interior of the restaurant is industrial-chic, with metal chairs, exposed walls and hanging lamps.

You are made to feel at home dressed up to the nines in your stilettos or out in your sandals – and I can say Tota is one of the best venues for changing its atmosphere to suit the time of day.

Sunday morning breakfasts, relaxed lunches and candle-lit evening meals are all suited to the venue.

I am a fan of the dishes served from the grill in the open-plan kitchen, dished up with a huge sweet potato as well as a side salad.

After dining at Tota I need to untie my belt a few notches and find somewhere cosy I can enjoy a drink.

A few doors down further along Upper Tooting Road, you will find the Manor.

You can really slump on the leather sofas in this friendly and relaxed pub, which also hosts music nights.
