Music lights the way for Walton Christmas festival
8:00am Wednesday 24th October 2012 in Freetime By Laura Proto
Wonderful time: Last year's festival
A strong musical element will help to see in the start of the festive season in Walton at the Christmas Festival of Light.
This year will see the introduction of a programme of entertainment celebrating musical talent around the borough, leading to the lantern procession at 5.30pm on Saturday, November 17.
Along with promotions, stalls and rides, schools, community choirs and bands will perform through the afternoon in the Heart.
There will also be a new musical element in the procession courtesy of the Curwen Music and Arts Trust.
Sarah-Jane Shellard, director of the Walton Business Group and event organiser, said: “We aim to improve the event for the community each year.
“A couple of years ago we added the stalls in High Street and this year we are delighted that more local music groups are celebrating with us.”
The event is funded predominately by businesses in Walton, with assistance from the RC Sherriff Trust and Elmbridge Council.
