Bourne Hall will be returning to a time when the Legions of Rome marched through Britain for its latest museum club event.
Visitors will be able to listen to tales from a soldier of the time explaining why the Roman Army was such an effective fighting force.
They can learn about the tactics the Romans used against unruly tribes, such as the Iceni, and discover if they would have been brave enough to take a place in a testudo.
The effectiveness of the Romans’ weapons and armour will be discussed and visitors will have the chance to discover how much training the legionaries had to endure during their 25 years of service.
The event will shed light on the influence the Roman occupation had on Britain and how the soldiers were kept busy when not on campaign.
