The countdown to Christmas is almost upon us and a host of stars will be ready to spread some festive cheer in Croydon next week.

The programme is being delivered by Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) with retail giants Hammerson pledging £15,000 towards the festivities.

On Thursday, North End and surrounding streets will be transformed into a twinkling, winter wonderland when stars from the cast of the Fairfield Halls pantomine, led by Laila Morse join forces with Croydon’s Mayor, Councillor Eddy Arram to switch on the Town Centre lights at 6.30pm.

Among the acts scheduled to appear are local band and former X Factor contenders, Rough Copy, Love To Dance, Bubblegum Dance, the Shirley Tappers & The Hot Foot Tappers, Anglo/Maltese singer Sophie and Impulse Bollystreet. Players from the Crystal Palace Football Club will also be making a personal appearance.

On Saturday, November 24 and December 1, from 11am to 5pm there will an afternoon of festive fun with street performers and musical entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Croydon Christmas Beat will take place on Saturday 8 December featuring some of the town’s best performers.
