Morden’s resident celebrity chef has launched a book for beginners who do not know their spoon from their spatula.

Monica Galetti, famous for being Michel Roux Jr’s first female sous-chef at the three-Michelin-starred Le Gavroche restaurant in Central London, has become well known in her own right after her own fearsome performances in BBC’s Masterchef: The Professionals.

Now Ms Galetti, who moved into Lower Morden two months ago, has had a cookery book published which encourages people to be adventurous with food.

She said: “It could be for people who come home from work and just want a salad...it’s for beginners”.

“I am passionate about food and wanted to break any gender barriers...when you choose a career and stick to it, you can never go wrong.”

As an 18-year-old, she wanted to take an adventure around the world, getting inspirations from different food from different cultures as well as reflect her Samoan and New Zealand background in her cooking.

As well looking after her six-year-old daughter, Ms Galetti revealed she is thinking about opening up her own family restaurant in London, but in four or five years from now.

‘MasterChef: The Professionals’ started on Wednesday, November 7, where Ms Galetti appears alongisde Michel Roux Jr and regular MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace, who owns the bistro Wallace & Co, in Lower Richmond Road, Putney.

Monica will be appearing live at the BBC Good Food Show London, from tomorrow to Saturday, November 11 at Kensington Olympia. For more information visit bbcgoodfoodshow.com or call 0844 581 1361.
