Grab your hat, gloves and scarf and get your skates on to celebrate 10 years of Hampton Court Palace ice rink.

Whether you are with a group of friends, on a family outing, or impressing a new date, winter skating at Henry VIII’s red brick Tudor palace will not fail to impress.

Nestled on the banks of the Thames, the palace rink is a picturesque spot, brought to life at night with dazzling lights bringing a touch of festive magic.

Mulled wine, hot chocolate and seasonal snacks at the rink-side café will revive enthusiastic skaters and keep spectators happy.

Skating sessions last one hour, wheelchairs are welcome and for those who are more likely to cling to the edges of the rink rather than glide gracefully round ice guides are available.

Children aged five to 16 can also take advantage of ice skating lessons on offer.

A course of lessons contains six 30 minute tutorials on selected dates. In past years lessons have sold out fast, so booking is recommended.

Advance booking for Christmas and New Year skating slots is also recommended.

Skating at Hampton Court Palace ice rink from Saturday, December 1, to Sunday, January 13, closed Christmas day. Various session times from 10am to 10pm. Prices start from £8.50. Book at the rink or visit hamptoncourtpalaceicerink.com.
