Teddington Parish Church is hosting a music event in the hope of creating Teddington’s first annual music festival.

Organisers of the first light music event of its kind in Teddington are hoping the summer music event, which features three concerts in June, will become an annual event.

To test the water, curators are hosting a miniature version of the event in the new year which, they hope, will be attended by Vince Cable MP.

They hope the public will join them in January at the parish church of St Marys in Teddington, for an evening of enjoyable music-making.

Producer Richard Fawkes says: “If it goes well, then it will be back as a regular event. We are particularly focusing on light music.”

The brains behind Teddington’s first summer music festival belong to Tony Lamb, who recently retired after 36 years at the English National Opera.

The event in January will feature music by composers ranging from Mozart and Schubert to Johann Strauss the younger, Franz Lehár and Robert Stolz.
