British ska legends Madness are the first act confirmed to perform at Sandown Park this summer.

Fresh from performing on the roof of Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s diamond jubilee and at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony, the nutty boys will head to Sandown Park racecourse for the first of its summer music nights.

Renowned for their high energy live shows, the band said: “A day at the races, British summer time, sounds suitably nutty to us.”

One of Britain’s most successful chart bands in history, Madness had 21 top-20 singles between 1978 and 1986, including Baggy Trousers and It Must Be Love.

Rupert Trevelyan, regional director London, said: “We are delighted to welcome back Madness who played to a sell out audience at Sandown Park in 2008.

“They are one of the most popular bands in the UK and following their huge impact on the British public last year, we look forward to another fantastic night of fun.”

The band will perform a 90-minute live performance immediately after the last race.

Madness will perform at Sandown Park on Wednesday, July 17. Tickets cost £37 for adults and £20 for children. For more information, visit sandown.co.uk.
