A rock and roll band are hoping for a successful 2013 as they continue their quest to become a household name, writes Andy Bloss.

The Renounds, made up of friends Vince Baldwin, Jay Harding, James Norton, Gaz Hussey and Dan Bickerdike, are playing at the Scream Lounge this Friday.

Last year saw the band play a host of live shows and producing a host of demos. They had their music played on various radio shows, including Holmesdale Online Show, which is a programme for Crystal Palace fans.

Jay Harding and James Norton are both big Crystal Palace supporters, and the pair were delighted when their music was played during half time at Selhurst Park.

Harding says: "Both myself and our other guitarist James are long established Palace fans and season ticket holders in the Holmesdale Stand. "Hearing one of our songs played in the same stadium we have stood in the stands for all these years was amazing.

"Probably even more so for James as he wrote it. I think it's up there with one of the most surreal moments of our lives. Big shout out to the announcer and everyone at the club for making that happen. We really appreciate it."

The band says they want their music to make people stamp their feet and rock out. Harding adds that their songs have a mix of thumping bass lines and then break it down to an acoustic side.

Harding says he hopes Palace fans and Croydon music lovers will head down to the gig this Friday as they embark on another year of making music.

He says:"Of course we want palace to get promoted this year but we are also in the process of booking more live dates and heading back into the studio to record and release and EP. So watch this space."
