I was only 9 wears old when they excavated Nonsuch Palace; I lived a couple of streets away and it was amazing to see the ground open up to reveal all that stuff! At Stoneleigh East Junior School I don't recall any mention being made of it , but my family made a point of taking a tour as often as possible during that hot summer. I was surprised at the number of coaches bringing tourists from up to a hundred miles away.
The following year, they excavated the Banqueting House but that was disappointing in comparison.
