Snail racing, shadow puppets and tea duelling are coming back with the return of the steampunks.

Steampunk is a movement based loosely around science fiction of the Victorian period and influenced by authors of the time such as Jules Verne and HG Wells.

The first ever Surrey Steampunk Convivial was a huge hit last year with figures dressed in corsets, top hats and goggles walking through Sutton, Kingston and Epsom.

This year’s event will start with a snail hunt in The Avenue in Worcester Park - the road that HG Wells lived in when he wrote The Time Machine.

The hunt will be hosted by local history enthusiast and snail racing commentator Clive Popkins.

Afternoon events will take place at The Royal Oak in New Malden and will include a mini market full of handmade steampunk items for sale and tea duelling - a traditional steampunk sport.

If you are a fan of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or the new Sherlock Holmes movies then don some steampunk garb and get down to Worcester Park.
