A two-day festival will celebrate the best in disability arts from Surrey and beyond.

Spring Disability Arts in Surrey (DAiSY) Festival will showcase artworks, workshops, films, music and dance. Leatherhead Theatre is hosting the festival from Friday, April 26, to Saturday, April 27.

Evening performances star companies including Dramatize, Leatherhead’s Freewheelers, and Surrey’s Orpheus Centre.

Workshops will also give festival goers the chance to have a go at anything from drama, songwriting and singing to filmmaking, dance and crafts.

Festival artistic director John Kelly sang a version of Ian Dury’s classic Spasticus Autisticus alongside other performers at the Paralympic opening ceremony last year.

Mr Kelly said: "I’m very excited about being involved in this festival - please have fun, join in and enjoy!"

The DAiSY Unearthed exhibition, which runs until April 29 at Leatherhead Theatre, includes outsider and disability art.

The show includes artworks from the Outside In: National exhibition, which was held at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester.

There will also be work from Surrey artists and the Look About project by Portsmouth-based artist Jon Adams.

The festival is supported by Surrey County Council and Arts Council England. Workshops are free and tickets for evening performances cost £5.
