Tickets still on sale for Crystal Palace comedy night
One of Britain's best known comics has been added to the bill for the second annual CPFC Comedy Night.
Alan Davies will perform alongside Crystal Palace fans Kevin Day and Jo Brand, at the Fairfield Halls on Tuesday, June 4.
The 47-year-old, who is best known for playing the title character in TV mystery series Jonathan Creek and for his role as panellist on QI, will take to the stage at the annual event next next month. Davies began performing stand-up comedy in 1988 at the Whitstable Labour Club and three years later he was named Time Out's Best Young Comic.
He continued touring and performing in the UK and Australia, winning the Edinburgh Festival Critics Award for Comedy in 1994, before moving into radio and television.
Davies joins an impressive line-up which already includes Mark Steel, Seann Walsh, Andre Vincent and Terry Alderton, who was added to the bill in April.
Kevin Day says he is looking forward to the event: "Last year's gig on the pitch was such a success that we pretty much agreed on the night to do another one this year, mainly because I think Palace Co-Chairman Steve Parish just likes meeting comedians.
"We've got a brilliant bill, which includes 4 Palace fans, an Arsenal season ticket holder and an ex-goalkeeper for Southend.
"The audience can expect some of the finest comedians in the country and some new material from me.
"Co-owner Steve Browett is like a hawk spotting jokes that he's heard before. And although all the acts are football fans, it's not a football night. I'm sure the Premier League will be mentioned but it's a comedy night for everyone."
The evening is sponsored by Farr Vintners, with the proceeds of the evening going to Comic Relief and the CPFC Academy.
