Men looking to stretch themselves without bending over backwards can take advantage of Yoga for Dudes classes in Balham this autumn.

Ryan Giggs and the All Blacks swear by incorporating power yoga into their training programs, and beginners keen to try without walking into a studio surrounded by super-bendy experts can worry no more, as experienced instructor Jodie brings men-only classes to the Bedford pub on Wednesday evenings.

The yoga teacher, who trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa, teaches a form of dynamic power yoga, and says the classes can benefit anyone.

She says: "My aim is to reach out to those men who always say ‘I’ve always wanted to try Yoga - but I’m not flexible.’

"It’s really not about being flexible, and with a class full of men, nobody ever feels out of place if they tumble over.

"It is a great cross trainer for football, rugby and all kinds of sports, and I think the men out there are becoming increasingly more aware of this."

The power yoga instructor promises the sessions will give a full body workout and her clients workup more of a sweat than they expected, but with the pub just downstairs a well-earned pint isn’t far away.
