A ballroom dance company has cancelled its show in Epsom later this month.

An Epsom Playhouse spokeswoman said the organisers cited "production problems" and they hope to reschedule the performance.

The show, Slickly Ballroom - Shall We Dance, was billed as an "all-singing all-dancing sensation" and had been due to take place on Friday, May 29.

Slicky Ballroom says the form of dancing has now managed to leave behind its "dull and dated image of polite post war courtship in a dowdy ballroom".

Artistic director Louise Jones, said they had handpicked dancers and musicians who have performed in critically acclaimed shows such as Chicago, Wicked, Legally Blonde and Jersey Boys.

Jones said: "Slickly ballroom brings the two worlds of music and dance together in one almighty collaboration and we hope you enjoy our breathtaking and uplifting show!"

Accompanied by a live orchestra, dancers would have performed favourites such as the cha-cha-cha, jive, foxtrot, samba, salsa, tango and the waltz.
