HISTORY – Visit Crossness Sewage Treatment Works from 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday

A trip to a sewage works may not sound like a fun day out but this is one of only two Grade One listed industrial buildings in London with spectacular ornamental cast ironwork and the world’s largest rotative beam engine. Recently it has been a film set for the likes of last year’s Victor Frankenstein. A steam engine will be running throughout the day. FAMILY – The Girl and the Giraffe at Greenwich Theatre on Saturday

THEATRE – The Lieutenant of Inishmore at Bromley Little Theatre from Friday until April 18

MUSIC – Whitney – Queen of the Night at Epsom Playhouse on Friday

FAMILY – Storystock – Circus of Stories at Omnibus, Clapham, from Wednesday until Friday

A travelling story circus rolls into town with live literature acts and celebrations of Shakespeare as well as Beatrix Potter’s 150th birthday and Roald Dahl’s 100th. FILM – The Huntsman – Winter’s War (3D), out Friday

Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron return in the sequel to 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman but Kristen Stewart’s Snow White is gone in the blockbuster sequel. Jessica Chastain and Sam Claflin join the cast, which is supplemented by St Margaret’s Nick Frost, Strawberry Hill’s Rob Brydon and Wandsworth-raised Emily Blunt.

FAMILY – Dad Day at Richmond Old Town Hall from 10am to noon on Saturday

FAMILY – At the End of Everything Else at Greenwich Theatre on Monday and Tuesday (April 4 and 5)
