The National Trust is throwing open the doors of Ham House for a season of festive events that will let visitors enjoy delicious food, craft workshops and plenty of opportunities to get some Christmas shopping done.

The magnificent 17th century building will be adorned with Christmas lights and guests can view the house lit up at night during a series of traditional candle-lit Christmas dinners (December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 6pm) and family carol concerts (December 5, 12, 19, 4.30pm).

Children can enjoy an extensive programme of activities including storytelling, face painting and balloon modelling, while the Christmas trail that snakes its way through the garden allows children to run off steam and collect a present upon completion.

There will also be plenty of present purchasing opportunities at Ham’s Christmas craft fair, where stalls will be offering a huge selection of gifts at a range of prices. For one night only (December 1, 7.30pm) there will also be an adult-only torch-lit ghost tour. Attendees will hear spine-chilling tales about some of Ham’s previous inhabitants. Next weekend there will be plenty of opportunites for Christmas shopping at Art and Contemporary Designer Craft Show at the Queen Charlotte Hall, Richmond. From next Friday to Sunday, All of the exhibitors at the event have designed and made the work that they are selling and have been selected for their individuality and innovation in contemporary design.

The work includes ceramics, furniture, clothing, jewellery and handbags.
